Virtual Camera March 13, 2006

while preparing our presentation, i decided to fool around with the virtual camera and wrote a small function for moving it. all you have to do is add a button and input the variables (begin position, time, etc) in this script. right now the hallway is entirely working with this:

not much to look at, but you should see the back-end. March 13, 2006

Hallelujah believers. Ye, the faithful shall be rewarded, we got ourselves a mini-game a hap-hap-happening.
Still got to do the art for the actual screens, but have all the code save the timer finished and working like the well oiled drug dispensing machine she is destined to be. Why don’t you fancy yourself a play?

Now you are probably saying – that plays for crap and doesn’t look the better either. I know, working on it, but for now, the hardest is over being all those nasty mechanics of getting the bugger to work;
- full randomization for question and answer selection (from 40 possible choices)
- button confirmation with random answer and question assignment
- counters intialized
But what does that leave me?
- lots of attractive art including 40 of these damn ink blot movies
- a front end deserving of this sizable dowery i have saved
- timer- you thought you were going to have all the time in the world?
By golly, they are going to make a programmer of me yet!

Character Animation Update: I have redone Punchington and the Janitor for consistency’s sake. Phil will now be helping with minigame development as well as adding details (shadows) to the characters once time allows.
The Old Man’s Walk cycle has also been improved slightly… And, Introducing GrandMaster TippyToes.

Pipe Maze March 12, 2006

Pipe maze is underway, have a basic background plate and rudimentary interactivity/puzzle elemens working. The valve wheel needs to be recolored and I need to get Dave’s steam leak movie clip to replace my busted ass placeholder, but you get the idea: Turn the valves, stop the leaks, route power to the elevator. The idea is that you should be able to trace the pipe by path and by color, so let me know if they look too much alike(I think they sorta do right now, I’ll get to it). There will be a green pipe and a red pipe and a whatever other color pipe, and the green pipe goes to the elevator and the others are red herrings. Fix the green pipe and the elevator works. Fix the other pipes and you’ll overload the pressure, blow everything, and you’ll have to restart the boiler and try again. Oh yeah, and you know that’s a repurposed image of the Windows 3D Pipes screensaver. Check it out, y’all.

putting together all the basic interactivity necessary for the first floor before the presentation. currently you can: burst the blue pipe (to later distract a guard), then enter the locker room, or open the lift and enter russ’ elevator.

Lift March 11, 2006

So the lif is just about done. It’s been designed and half-programmed, you can open and close the doors, and the switch that activates the lift can only be used when the doors are closed because we are all about safety. Eventually the whole thing will animate upwards out of frame. Check it out.
on the topic of Gannt’s… March 8, 2006

Okay, i just tangoed for two hours trying to get the GanntProject program to spit out something usable of our chart. I highly reccomend we look for another way to do this, even it if is just Excel because fact is we are going to need to make this chart reflect our schedule and i don’t see that being condusive if it takes an hour to get the bloody thing to work. So unless there are any other suggestions, i am just going to redo the thing in Excel.
