okay so ive got a working zoom function, though it still has a bug (when insane) which can be fixed. it can be seen on the latest first floor's blue bursting pipe.

secondly ive been trying to get the environments to stay as is when going back and forth. ex: if the pipe is burst, user leaves hallway then returns, pipe should remain burst (until the start of a new day). this is currently working for the 1st floor hallway. the next step would be to make the camera start in the proper location, but i think this will be tied to the character movement script.

finally, im working on making this world connected via the elevators. my plan is to make a script that loads the elevator swf, then from there the user selects up or down. the correct level would be loaded at that point (right now as a test, the 1st floor elevator simply goes straight to the 3rd). however, we need everyones .fla files. if you could, up them to "Y:\_CaSh MoNeY (no h4×0rz plz k thx)\environment files". i need your various environments (each floor, elevator, boiler room, gondola, etc) along with all finished, shaded characters.

update: the 1st, 3rd, and 5th floors are now connected through a rudimentary elevator system.

medicine minigame April 25, 2006

So here we go. How can I possibly explain this. Since Lang seems to be deep in the trenches of the drivetrain puzzle, I'm offering up another one of my own creations to be repurposed for our game. So the medicine game, which was originally going to be a maze, is now going to be an arcade-style puzzle/breaking blocks game. The idea is that instead of breaking blocks of whatever like the game is now, we'll do some quick new graphics, change some of the code, and it will be about breaking enzymes in this experimental medicine to prevent it from getting to your brain(you don't like the medicine). As with the balance game, since it's being repurposed, it's about 90% ready. But check it out here. Keyboard left and right to move the green ball, down to drop it on the blocks. Edit: right click and save the .swf to your local disk. For some reason, it dislikes being played in a webpage right now. Edit 2: just kidding. you have to click inside the stage first in order for it to work. Oh and fyi, Firefox seems to run Flash movies at about half the speed IE does. Anyone know why?

So I have 2 plates for the library of the second floor done(tables and chairs in the foreground so our dude can walk behind them to the bookcases). The bookcases have some empty spots where we can put little items to play with later. The plate is missing the door and a lamp, which I will get from Dave so that it remains consistent with the rest of the building. The grandfather clock that you break is a seperate file, which will be posted shortly. Doc Eyebrows' office also coming soon. Check it out here.

Been having some trouble getting some of the functionality wanted – meeting later today to help clear up some issues, but at very least game is playable. Will probably scale back on intial scope of dynamic nature originally planned in hopes of just getting it done. give 'er a go.

Script Complete! (for now) April 24, 2006

Greetings contemporaries and peers,

Got a working finished copy of the script containing

  • Dialogue for all the characters
  • Cut scene scripts
  • Miscellaneous documents found in game

http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~lk46/SCRIPT.doc
Again this will probably change as the game evolves, however right now, this is the closest you can come to playing the game in a really boring static way! You know what, lets make the game an RGP. right now . for real. come on.

Also worth noting, i named everything, realizing we have gone on long enough without a proper title for our young seasoned hero and his adventure.
